ANDAMAN ISLANDS

Andaman Islands

The Andaman Islands certainly can be considered one of the best destination for Dogtooth tunas and GT fishing in South Eastern part of Asia. It’s ideal geographical location and remoteness from modern world helps surrounding marine life to flourish. The abundance and sizes of fish species found in this area are sheer delight to any saltwater fishing enthusiast.

Most predominant target species in these waters is Giant Trevally; with an average weight range of 20 to 35 kg but often tipping 45 kg mark making GT fishing an all time favorite here. Many other species that are caught throughout the season here are Bluefin Trevally, Bigeye and Pilot trevally, Red Snappers, several species from Grouper family, Coral Trout, Napoleon, Barracuda, Spanish mackerel, Wahoo, Billfishes like Black Marlin and Sailfish, Dogtooth, Yellow fin tuna and bonito etc. In our waters, sizes do matter and when we target any of the listed species they do surprise and exhaust us beyond our anticipation often. But that is what we love doing everyday especially when it comes to massive Dogtooths and GT fishing.

The most favorable fishing season here in Andaman is from October to April, but month of May have always been full of bigger surprises for seasoned GT fishing enthusiasts. We enjoy tropical climate during our fishing season with temperature ranging from minimum of 23 °C (75 – 85 F) and maximum at 28 °C (78 – 95 F). Depending on monsoon fishing trips can even be arranged during June to September, but we do not advise guests traveling long distance to plan such trips.
